Dale Turkington

Dale has an extensive range of skills and knowledge in the building industry, with over 40 years of experience internationally and within New Zealand.

Dale worked for a number of major engineering consulting firms in Canada, and has worked within the Beca Group of companies in New Zealand, Singapore and Australia for over 25 years in various management and leadership roles. Dale has been responsible for the design and project management, and construction of a number of major infrastructure and commercial projects in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and South East Asia, including the Sky City/Sky Tower Complex, Macau Tower and the new Auckland Hospital. He was on the Board of HERA (Heavy Engineering Research Association) for 5 years, serving as Chair for 1 year. Dale also led the Construction Industry Council’s Design Documentation Working party; the guidelines created has set a benchmark for the building industry in New Zealand.

Dale’s achievements and expertise has been recognised with the numerous awards he has received including the following:

  • Freyssinet Award 2011, Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand, Supreme Technical Award for Engineer Achievers in the category of Building and Construction.
  • President’s Award 2005, Association of Consulting Engineers New Zealand.
  • 1998 Award for Structural Excellence, Structural Engineering Society New Zealand.
