AUT’s new City Campus development, the Engineering, Technology and Design (ETD) Precinct brings together their Engineering and Computer Maths Science faculties into a state of the art learning facility. The ETD Precinct comprises a 4 level double height extension to an existing AUT building, a 12 level tower, and a 5 level podium.
Cleverly designed in a way that will allow the building itself to be a hands on learning tool where students can interact with the building structure and services to understand how different systems and building management technologies perform under different environmental conditions.
Cutting edge “Flexibility and Adaptability” space management of labs and collaborative teaching spaces has been incorporated in the design, which allows AUT to use the same space for many different activities.
The building comprises several highly specialised labs, project workshop spaces, lecture theatres, general teaching, collaborative social learning, cafes, a gallery and office accommodation.
