Levels 2, 4 and 7 of the WA Building at AUT’s City Campus were the focus of a refurbishment over the summer of 2013-2014. The refurbishment works involved demolition of the existing fit-outs, with Level 4 re-designed to house the city campus’s new Tech Central. This popular space encompasses an open access computer lab, group presentation booths, and two offices. Level 7 was a refurbishment of the floor which includes the office of the Vice Chancellor, and Level 2 a refurbishment of the conference centre.
Hargrave were engaged by AUT to manage the refurbishment, working with the design and construction team of Jasmax, Beca and Aspec Interiors.
The short window of construction period available in order to be open for semester one 2014 resulted in a very tight programme, with three separate completion dates, which required close monitoring.
Our roles and responsibilities:
Hargrave filled the roles of Project Manager, Engineer to the Contract, and Engineer’s Representative. Responsibilities included co-ordination of the design team, cost tracking, monitoring and direction of the contractor and contract administration. The 3 floors involved in the overall project required co-ordination, with each level having a different programme. Hargrave were also responsible for the procurement of the furniture, fixtures and equipment.
