Client: Williams Land Ltd
Location: Weiti Bay
Construction Start: January 2013
Construction Finish: On-going
Project Partners: Boffa Miskell Planners, Beca, Woods, Hick Bros
The 850 Ha parcel of land, formally state forest is subject to The Weiti Special 8 zone rules under the Auckland District operative plan. These rules allow 550 dwellings plus commercial and retail areas, a 10km network of council and private roads, a conservation institute, walkways, lookouts and cycle tracks, an equestrian centre and marina for private owners and public use.
A Resource consent was granted in 2008 for the first 150 lots on land known as Weiti Bay. This is being marketed currently. Bulk earthworks on this site are programmed to commence this Oct 2014.
The second parcel of land for development known as Village 1 is in the last stage of receiving non notified resource consent for approx. 200 dwellings.
Under the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan, the client Williams Land has submitted an application to increase the number of lots to 1,200 in one stage and 1,600 more recently in the 28 February 14 lodgement.
Council notified its updated proposed plan in Sept 13 acknowledging 1,200 lots at Weiti. Their approval to 1,600 will not be known until later this year.
Significant consultation with Iwi and other stakeholders, along with territorial authorities has and continues to take place to achieve the best outcomes for the land, owners and the wider stakeholders and visitors to Weiti.
